Dear Visitor,

Christian Kingombe, a Danish and Congolese (DRC) national, was born in Odense, Denmark on 26 March 1973.
He earned his B.A. and M.Sc. from the Department of Economics, University of Copenhagen, Denmark, and is in the process of earning a Ph.D. from Imperial College London and University of London.
He has taught at various Lower-Secondary Schools in the Copenhagen Area, from 1996 to 1998. He has also served as an Anonymous referee for the UNCTAD Discussion Paper series; UNCTAD & Center for International Development Harvard University G-24 Discussion Paper Series; and the ILO International Labour Review.

Apart from his academic activities, Christian Kingombe has worked as a consultant for numerous international organisations, including various UN agencies (UNCTAD, UNECE, and ILO), the OECD, the World Bank (COWI consultant), and the European Commission (COWI consultant).
He has also assisted the government of Denmark’s Africa Commission on Effective Development Cooperation with Africa within framework of Youth & Employment.

Christian Kingombe has contributed to a number of flagship reports, including UNCTAD’s Economic Development in Africa 2009: Strengthening Regional Economic Integration for Africa’s Development; OECD-AfDB-UNECA’s African Economic Outlook 2008/2009: Information and Communications Technologies and Innovation in Africa; OECD-AfDB’s African Economic Outlook 2007/2008: Technical and Vocational Skills Development in Africa; UNECE-FAO-EUROSTAT-OECD’s 2005 Handbook on Rural Household, Livelihood and Wellbeing: Statistics on Rural Development and Agricultural Household Income; ILO’s World Employment Report, 2004: Employment, Productivity and Poverty Reduction; and UNCTAD’s the Trade and Development Report, 2001: Global Trends and Prospects – Financial Architecture.

From 2006-2007 I gained private sector / project management experience through the international consulting group - COWI. Some of the working areas I was involved in included: Output-Based Aid; World Bank sponsored Public-Private Partnerships; Environmental Impact Assessments; various infrastructural projects both in Africa and Europe; public finance & governance; transport of freight on different modes of transport etc.
